Fall 2023 - Spring 2024
Introduction & background
In an era where convenience and efficiency are incredibly important, the integration of digital solutions in healthcare has transformed the way patients access services. This bachelor project, titled Dr. Digi, presents the development of a user-centered mobile application and website designed to streamline health service bookings for the private health-sector. Dr. Digi aims to provide a seamless, intuitive, and efficient platform for users to book medical appointments directly to the specialists, as well as manage their booking schedules.
My role in the team of four interaction designers, was being in charge of the development of the prototype.
The problem
In the research part of the project / specialization subject (witch lasted from September- to Desember 2023), it was quickly discovered that it was a clear need for an intuitive and modern application where your could book, manage and view your health-booking appointments.
Based of insight from interviews and surveys, we established a problem statement trough affinity mapping and sorting:
"How can the design of Dr. Digi be utilized to achieve a simple and excellent user experience in a digital health booking service?"
Design process
The design process of Dr. Digi, a health booking app and website, involved several key stages to ensure a user-centered, efficient, and intuitive platform. The designated process model became the "Double diamond design process"
User Research: We began by conducting comprehensive user research, including surveys and interviews with potential users to understand their needs, preferences, and pain points in booking health services. This phase provided valuable insights into user behaviors and expectations.
Ideation: Based on the research findings, we brainstormed and developed initial concepts for Dr. Digi. This stage included sketching wireframes and mapping out user flows to visualize the app’s structure and functionality.
Prototyping: We created low-fidelity prototypes to represent the basic layout and features of Dr. Digi. These prototypes were used to gather early feedback from users and stakeholders, allowing us to make informed adjustments before moving to high-fidelity designs.
Design and Iteration: High-fidelity designs were developed, incorporating visual elements and detailed interactions. We conducted usability testing with these designs to identify any issues or areas for improvement. Based on the feedback, iterative refinements were made to enhance usability and user satisfaction.
Result
As a result, Dr. Digi successfully streamlines the process of booking and managing healthcare appointments through its intuitive and user-friendly design. The thorough design process, incorporating extensive user research and iterative refinements, has produced a highly efficient platform. Users benefit from simplified healthcare administration, increased engagement, and enhanced satisfaction, showcasing the effectiveness of user-centered design in developing an impactful digital health-booking platform.
